Pediatric Athletic Chiropractic Care for young ATHLETES

Sports

Athletes now are training longer and starting earlier in life to hone their craft. If you have a young athlete in your life you know the commitment and passion they have for their chosen activity or activities. We want them to be as healthy and as successful as they can be and therefore proper support is important.

Doctors of Chiropractors are highly educated, well regulated profession that is a portal of entry for care. This means no referral is needed to see these professionals with a minimum of 7 years of academic schooling. They are thoroughly trained in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the neuromusculoskeletal system. This system includes all of the bones, joints and soft tissues including muscles and ligaments of the body. Our goal is to make sure all these structures are moving optimally and not causing any discomfort.

Sport Specific

Being active is an important part of maintaining ones health and function. When it comes to athletes, even our young ones, they are consistently training and learning new skills. This training has a large affect on their musculoskeletal system. Musculoskeletal injuries are the largest class of injuries seen in sports, as the musculoskeletal system is structurally responsible for movement of the body.

As mentioned above chiropractors are spine and muscle experts, allowing them to have a special interest in movement and function. This has allowed them to have played an important role in helping athletes enhance performance, manage injuries and prevent future injuries. Athletic injuries are commonly due to poor adaptation or overuse. Our chiropractors are here to reduce pain, relieved fatigued muscles and allow a faster return to activity.

Chiropractic Care for Kids

sports

Chiropractic care has been proven to be safe for children of all ages. The premise of chiropractic care is the same for people of all ages but bodies of different development and size will need different modifications. Care for a toddler will be different to that of a teenager. Chiropractic care is modified to meet the needs of every individual. Force of thrusts can be modulated, techniques used can be discussed and rehabilitative exercises can be modified to meet everyones level.

Chiropractic care at AltaVie Health will include a full assessment of your complaint; pain from an injury, pain from training, a plateau in training, a loss of range of movement or anything else that may be affecting your child’s enjoyment in their activity. From here care may include manual therapy (adjustments, soft tissue massage), rehabilitative exercises, kinesiology taping, lifestyle modifications, clinical nutrition and health education. All care options will be discussed to find what works best for your family. Dr. Devin Welch was a high level young athlete herself and she knows the dedication and love for a sport, this is why she loves working with athletes. The goal is to meet your child where they are at and get them to where they want to be.
