The Dead Bug Dance Routine: Fun Core Exercises for Kids (and Parents)

At AltaVie Health, we believe movement should be fun — for kids and adults alike!

In this short video, Dr. Amanda and her assistant Sequoia share a playful way to strengthen the core while building body awareness and coordination — the Dead Bug Dance Routine! 🐞💃

🌟 Why We Love This Routine

Core stability is essential for posture, balance, and motor control — especially for growing kids.

But traditional exercises can feel boring or repetitive, which is why Dr. Manda turns core training into a dance party.

By adding music and a few creative twists, the Dead Bug Dance Routine transforms core engagement into joyful movement — helping kids connect their brains and bodies through rhythm and play.

🪩 The Three Moves

1. Happy Baby Roll

Lie on your back and hug your knees toward your chest.

Hold a squishy toy, pillow, or even a “dance partner” between your feet.

Gently roll side to side — left, right, left, right — feeling your spine move smoothly across the floor.

👉 Try for 10 rolls each side!

2. Screaming Stretching Bug

Start lying on your back, holding your “dance partner.”

Pass it from your hands to your feet and back again — like a relay race!

Keep your movements slow and controlled (bonus points for dramatic bug noises 🪲😂).

Repeat 10 times.

3. Classic Dead Bug (with a Twist)

Stay lying down, knees bent and feet up as if hugging a big beach ball.

Lower one arm and the opposite leg toward the ground, then return to center and switch sides.

Keep your movements smooth and rhythmic — try to match them to your favorite song! 🎶

💚 AltaVie Tip
