Naturopathic Medicine is a primary health care model that focuses on whole person wellness. It emphasizes prevention and teaching patients about their health. Naturopathic Doctors use mainly natural therapies to address the root cause of disease. Many Naturopathic Doctors in British Columbia are also trained in pharmaceutical prescribing, acupuncture, and many other healing modalities.

Regulation & Licensing

To be eligible for licensing, Naturopathic Doctors must pass North America wide standardized examinations and provide proof of ongoing continuing education. In BC, the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia is responsible for licensing NDs.

Education & Training

It takes a lot of work, dedication, brilliance, and passion to become an ND. All Naturopathic Doctors must first complete an undergraduate university degree before entering an accredited naturopathic medical school. The naturopathic medical program consists of 4 years of training in basic medical sciences, naturopathic treatments and principles, and over 1200 hours of supervised clinical experience. They are truly experts in whole-person, natural health and healing and are a fabulous addition to your family's healthcare team.

Philosophy & Treatment

Naturopathic Medicine is centered on the following guiding principles:

    • First, do no harm.
